| She struggled to regain consciousness. The biting cold helped but the residual drugs in her system encouraged her to go back to that peaceful quiet sleep. She knew she was in danger and was aware that now outside, no longer a captive in that awful house, that she had to make her move to escape. Soon it could be too late.
She pushed herself to her feet, the blowing snow temporarily blinding her in the evening darkness. Suddenly, she felt his hands grab her from behind.
"No! No!" Her screams swallowed instantly by the raging wind.
She half ran and was half pushed away from the hands on her back. She had only taken four or five steps when the ground disappeared under her feet and she realized she was falling. Her body slowly turned and rolled in the air. She looked back up into the snow now falling more slowly than she was.
